How can visitors experience climate-related topics in a practical way at the Eco-Field Days? Leslie Risch is planning many exciting “climate stations” with a team of experts. In the area of climate advice, for example, the Landesbetrieb Landwirtschaft Hessen (LLH) will present an interactive climate model. In a simulation game, visitors can select measures that contribute either to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions or to adaptation to climate change. With the help of the climate model, it is possible to set up a climate-optimized business. Another station is the soil profile: here you can observe the root formation of the power plant alfalfa.
In the special agroforestry area, Dr. Philipp Weckenbrock and his team provide information on climate protection and adaptation through agroforestry systems. “In the agroforestry bachelor seminar, we plan posters on various climate impacts together with the students,” says Weckenbrock. General tours of the agroforestry system and special tours on climate topics such as carbon storage and erosion control are further elements of the climate focus.
