Making the climate tangible

The 2022 Organic Field Days at the Gladbacherhof will focus on topics such as the climate crisis and climate adaptation. As part of a climate tour, scientists will demonstrate the challenges facing agriculture and possible solutions in eight areas and around 20 stations. “In the soil and plants area, for example, employees from the University of Giessen measure greenhouse gases in the field. A team from the LLH provides climate advice with the help of a simulation game. Visitors can find out how agroforestry areas can combat the climate crisis in regular guided tours. How different feeding systems affect the CO₂ and methane emissions of dairy cattle as well as nitrogen emissions (NH₃, N₂O) from farm manure is explained by university employees in guided barn tours,” summarizes Leslie Risch, who planned the KlimarRundgang. In addition to these and many other stations, the climate is also the focus of exciting climate-related forum contributions.
