Nitrate in watercourses and groundwater is a highly topical issue. For example, nitrate levels in groundwater currently exceed the legal limit of 50 milligrams per liter at 27 percent of measuring points in Germany.
Employees of the University of Giessen are offering the opportunity to analyze water samples free of charge at the Eco-Field Days 2022. Visitors can bring along their water sample, whether from a stream, river, spring or well. The scientists will use an innovative, mobile measuring system to analyze the water sample and make all measurement data directly visible online.
