Diverse program is online
The Öko-Feldtage are taking place in Baden-Württemberg for the first time this year. The modern organic farm Grieshaber & Schmid, northwest of Stuttgart, focuses on arable and field vegetable cultivation as well as dairy farming. These and other topics are also reflected in the varied program of the Öko-Feldtage.
“The Öko-Feldtage 2023 are an important milestone and source of inspiration for the further development of organic farming in Baden-Württemberg and beyond,” says Peter Hauk MdL, Minister of Agriculture in Baden-Württemberg.
Field vegetable cultivation is a special focus of this year’s Öko-Feldtage. Machine demonstrations will provide insights into new hoeing techniques, including those using autonomous machines and artificial intelligence. Visitors can also take a practical look at the directly adjacent area to see which irrigation systems are suitable for the site. Experts will also be demonstrating various aspects of organic potato cultivation. They will show over 20 different varieties, including numerous new varieties, and their characteristics.
Another focus of the Öko-Feldtage is the dual use of agricultural land in the form of agrivoltaics. Demonstration systems will show practical examples, companies and researchers will report on the current state of the art, and practitioners will talk about their experiences to date.
“The Öko-Feldtage 2023 in Baden-Württemberg are once again closely linked to the farm on which they take place,” says Carsten Veller, Program and Network Project Lead, explaining the concept of the Öko-Feldtage. In addition, the event’s program and exhibitors reflect the entire breadth of sustainable agriculture, ranging from crop cultivation and animal husbandry to marketing and research.
